RFL Spring Flower Fundraiser
We are
now moving onto our next mini-fundraiser that we hope will bring in
mega-money! The good people at Hoen’s Greenhouse will be supplying all the
quality flowers for us. There are various flowers, hanging baskets and
vegetable plants to choose from. A complete order form follows with pricing
information and flower descriptions. Spring
signifies new life and hope, as does the American Cancer Society’s Relay for
Life. We sincerely hope that you become part of our team by participating
in the event and supporting the event financially by helping to sell
flowers. You can sell flowers to anyone! You will collect the money at
time of sale. All vouchers and checks
(made out to Friends of Perrysburg) are due by April 25, 2008. Your customers can pick up their flowers
between May 1 – May 9 at Hoen’s Greenhouse. Their selection is vast and
you’ll be impressed with their quality. Please contact Joy at joy14@accesstoledo.com for more information.

You've probably read about Daffodil Days
in the past. It's a widely publicized fundraising event put on my
the American Cancer Society. This year our FOP team has the
opportunity to earn $6 for each bunch of daffodils that we sell.
Daffodils are sold as cut flowers in bunches of ten. If you are
interested in purchasing a bunch of daffodils, please consider ordering
through our team. Contact Chris at ccady@bex.net or Joy at joy14@accesstoledo.com.

Beach Party 2007
RecapWhat a fabulous time we had at the
American Cancer Society Relay for Life this past June! Thank you to
everyone who donated or came out and walked with us for such a worthy
cause! We raised just under $2000 and couldn't have done it without
all of your support!Beach Party 2007
This
year FOP will be bringing a Beach
Theme to the ACS’ Relay for Life from June 15 – 16 at
Rivercrest
Park
. Relay for Life is a fun, team-based overnight event. As each Relay begins, teams pitch tents and decorate their
campsite. They set out food,
games and sleeping bags that will keep them going throughout the event. Then in a moving tribute to survivorship, cancer survivors from the
community kick off the Relay by walking a victory lap around the track
known as the Survivors’ Lap. A
luminary ceremony to honor those affected by cancer is held at dusk. Lit candles are placed in bags bearing the names of both survivors
and those lost to the disease (A luminary order form is attached to this
newsletter). Throughout the
evening and into the next day, everyone enjoys entertainment, fun, and
camaraderie.
Though
every team has a great time at the annual ACS Relay for Life event in
Perrysburg each year, we need to remember the real reason we are
all getting together: Raising money for Research and for Services to support Cancer Patients
and their Families. This
year FOP has sponsored two fundraising events to raise money for our Team. We sold poinsettias during the holiday season and took part in a
fundraising event sponsored by Max & Erma’s. We still have a lot more to do to reach our Team goal of $1500.
If
you’ve never been a part of a Relay before this is the year to get
involved! This is a team
event, so we need everyone’s participation. This is a community wide event and thousands of Perrysburg citizens
will be there sharing in the fun. Don’t
miss out! Learn more about the
event and what you can do at our Team
meeting, Tuesday, April 10th from
7 – 8 pm
at the home of Joy Ermie. Cancer has affected each and every one of us in one way or another;
now is our chance to come together to raise money to find a cure!

Hurricane Katrina Baby Shower
Friends
of Perrysburg donated baby supplies/gift cards to the Frank
Liller Family of New Orleans. Frank
is the son of Frank Liller, Sr. (High School English and Yearbook
Teacher at
Perrysburg
High
School
).
Like so many on
the Gulf
Coast
, Frank and his wife,
Lena
, lost EVERYTHING. Currently, they are still living in boarded-up, temporary
housing in
New Orleans
due to Frank’s employment, as
Lena
lost her job due to the flooding. In addition, they are expecting their first child (a boy) in
January and are overwhelmed with the process of rebuilding a life
for themselves and their unborn child.
