Board Member Opportunities

Friends of Perrysburg has a Board of women who oversees the groups activities and functions.  Board positions can be filled by any Friends of Perrysburg member.  The term runs from May to May of each year.  

Serving on the Board offers a great way to meet new people, exercise your skills and make a difference in the community.  Please contact a current board member if you would like more information. 

The following is a list of positions: 

President: Presides over Board Meetings and General Meetings, general supervision of association.

Vice President: Responsible for planning the topics for each general meeting, sets up room for meetings. (Co-chaired by two members)

Secretary: Keeps minutes of board meetings, provides minutes to board members, sends cards.

Treasurer: Keeps books and accounts, makes payments and deposits, prepares monthly treasurer report, maintains post office box for organization.

Newsletter: Organizes articles and serves as editor of monthly newsletter.  Sends electronic copy to web site coordinator.

Asst. to Newsletter: Organizes mailing of monthly newsletter, keeps member roster updated.

Membership: Recruits new members. Contacts individual who request membership information, coordinates new member events. Maintains club brochure.  (Co-chaired by two members)

Interest Groups: Coordinates interest groups, recruits chairpersons for interest groups.

Historian: Records activities of association (photos, newspaper articles) and maintains scrapbook.

Fundraising: Responsible for organizing the main fundraising event for the year.  (Co-chaired by two members)

Social: Plans general membership outings and events (Fall Event, overnight ladies outing, end of year picnic, or other).

Civic/Relay for Life: Coordinates Friends of Perrysburg Relay for Life team, including fundraiser and benefits, as well as the actual event.  Also, plans other civic activities for the general membership to participate in (food drive, collection for the troops, school supplies, bulb planting, beautification projects, or other).

Publicity/Advertising: Coordinates publicity of association activities and meetings in newspaper and other medium.  Secures advertising for the newsletter.

Web Site: Responsible for maintaining web site, posting current information, and establishing links with other community resources.

 Civic Involvement

Friends of Perrysburg sponsors several civic and fund-raising events each year.  Members are directly responsible for the success of each event and are strongly encouraged to participate.

What Types of Events Are Sponsored?

Civic Events: Friends of Perrysburg sponsors 2-3 civic events each year.  Civic events include hands-on activities like visiting a nursing home, volunteering at a shelter,

Fund-raising: Some of the fund-raising events organized by Friends of Perrysburg in the past have been an Annual Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa, Fashion Shows, and Spring Fest (a professional craft show). Participating in fund-raisers also offers members the opportunity to develop friendships while having lots of fun. Every fund-raiser benefits from the enthusiastic help and creativity of all members.

 

Where Does the Money Go?

Each year the organization selects one or more local charities to benefit from its philanthropic efforts. We have donated over $27,000 to the community since 1995.  Groups who have benefited from FOP donations include:
